February 2 - February 8: Listening/Instrumental Assignment (remember that listening assignments apply to the weeks during which the listening is assigned.)

This next year we will be focusing on one major concert pianist each month. This month is Vladimir Ashkenazy

Check out his website (and concert schedule) a little bit each week: http://www.vladimirashkenazy.com/

Ashkenazy playing Chopin etude op. 10 no. 1: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WpZr_cbYbXo

Question: What did you learn from his playing and sound?

  1. It sounds easy and flowing. There is no tension in his sound even when he is going fast. Its flawless, or at least he doesn't "give it away." Its short but beautiful. Not going to lie. I really love Chopin. PRACTICE YOUR SCALES :)
